Health and safety is of paramount importance to Redhill, ensuring we keep our employees and visitors safe. Committed to the highest health and safety standards, and continually striving for excellence, we have recently established a Health & Safety Committee, promoting a positive H&S culture amongst our workforce.
Headed up by Kevin Balcombe, our Operations Director, our H&S Committee comprises Managing Director, Andy Colley; Production Assistant, Holly Jones; and Director, Sam Colley, all of whom have recently completed their IOSH Course (Health & Safety), which took place at Redhill over a three-day period, delivered by an accredited H&S trainer.
As Committee leader, Kevin is keen to pursue his NEBOSH qualification and we plan to educate employees with ongoing training sessions, encouraging their awareness of safety issues. With new machinery arriving at the new factory all the time, we believe it’s essential we constantly monitor and review our safety procedures.
Our new H&S Committee will consist of a team member from every department across the business and will meet on a monthly basis, chaired by Kevin. We’re also introducing Health & Safety walkabouts, involving every member of Redhill on a rotational basis, to ensure we continue to promote a positive H&S culture. Working as a team, everyone has a different perspective, identifying potential hazards in different areas, helping to broaden our view and ensure we’ve covered all eventualities.
Safe working practices are fundamental to our business and we believe it’s essential to have robust H&S procedures in place, contributing not only to a safe working environment , but also employee morale, helping to increase productivity and efficiency. Committed to keeping up with the latest H&S initiatives, we believe it is good practice to have an on-site H&S Committee, ensuring we maintain the latest safety standards and that staff undergo regular training.
As a brand, Redhill has always been synonymous with the highest safety standards. Testament to this, our range of British Standard Mobile Safety Steps was the first to be awarded the prestigious BSI Kitemark, recognised across the world as a symbol of excellence, providing proof of rigorous testing and that the manufacturing process is regularly assessed to ensure ongoing compliance with British Standards.
As we continue to build the Redhill brand both in the UK and abroad, we believe our commitment to safety is exemplified by the introduction of our new H&S Committee, highlighting the integral importance of health and safety within our culture and our business.
