How would you describe yourself as an individual?
I would describe myself as an adaptable individual with a fairly creative mind. Having worked at Redhill for over a year now I have learnt to be adaptable, taking on different challenges throughout the year. I would also describe myself as a reliable and trustworthy person, I always arrive to work on time and prepared for the working day. Give me a task to do and I will complete it to the best of my ability. I find trying to figure out an issue by myself to be more beneficial and rewarding for me.
What is a typical day in the life at Redhill?
A typical day in the life at Redhill starts by arriving early and then officially starting work at 8. I will manage my time effectively throughout the day, I work with 2 different software programmes; Solidworks and Mie Trak. I balance my day, so I am working on both. Throughout the day, IT issues may arise.
When this happens that becomes my main priority, it is important for me to make sure everyone can proceed with their work without any unwanted disruptions. I change the server backup daily; between 16:30 and 17:00. At the end of the day (17:00) we make sure all lights are turned off, doors are locked and all that stuff.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
That I am in control of my workflow; I am responsible for managing my own time and tasks throughout the day. I rotate between tasks, making sure I am working with both software programmes (Solidworks and Mie Trak). As previously mentioned, IT issues may arise. With me being in control of my own time, I will always be able to help colleagues out with IT related issues. If I am unable to solve the issue based on my knowledge, I will quickly research for a fix. If I can’t find a fix, I will then phone our IT support company as soon as possible making sure I am wasting no time.
I am currently coming to the end of my apprenticeship, where if I pass and receive all my certificates, I will become a full time employee at Redhill Manufacturing Ltd.
