Falling from a height remains one of the biggest causes of fatality and major injury at work in the UK, accounting for around 24% of such injuries each year, with the main cause falling off a ladder. This translates into around 500 injuries each year due to ladder falls.
Committed to the highest levels of health and safety, Redhill fully supports National Ladder Safety Month, which is taking place throughout March, aiming to raise awareness of ladder safety and decrease the number of injuries due to ladder misuse. According to the campaign, ladder accidents are preventable with thorough safety planning, training and continuous innovation in product design.
We totally agree with this assessment and, in support of the campaign, are running an ongoing LinkedIn post, giving a different ladder safety tip throughout the month. Tips include not over-reaching, having a firm base, always facing the ladder when descending, maximum loads and so on. Follow us on LinkedIn to see more.
Continuous innovation in product design is one of the cornerstones of Redhill’s success and something of which we are very proud. There’s no greater testament to this than our range of Mobile Safety Steps, which were the first in the UK to be awarded the BSI Kitemark, the gold standard for quality, safety, performance and trust.
Only those Mobile Safety Steps that have the BSI Kitemark conform to British Standard BS EN 131-7, and to hold this award, must undergo ongoing independent assessment from the BSI. We commit totally to this ongoing assessment, ensuring our Mobile Safety Steps perform to the same consistent quality, every time.
For distributors of our products and their customers, the BS Kitemark provides peace of mind that products have been independently tested and assessed by the BSI over and over again. In the manufacturing industry, where safety is paramount, it means customers can rest assured that Redhill’s Mobile Safety Steps are the safest steps available on the market, with many product innovations.
Such innovations include treads that meet specific measurements and have passed BSI’s rigorous torsion and bending tests; step design that withstands heavy test loads pulling them to one side – and still remain standing; and dome-covered spring-loaded swivel castors that retract when weight is applied, ensuring firm contact with the floor.
Redhill’s BS Kitemark Mobile Safety Steps are part of our ‘Well Built in Britain’ range of products, all designed and manufactured in the UK. Fully operational in our new factory premises, now equipped with the latest laser cutting and manufacturing technology, we are taking product design to a whole new level, ensuring the Redhill name continues to be synonymous with the highest standards of quality, safety and reliability.
