Jane Colley has received the Warwickshire Golf Union’s Unsung Hero Award 2019 On 29th November, the annual Warwickshire Golf Awards took place and the evening was a huge success.
Now in their third year, the Awards are held to recognise and celebrate the hard work and dedication that goes on within the local golf community and we are delighted to share that Jane Colley was announced as the winner for the Unsung Hero award!
Jane was nominated within the Unsung Hero category by Ladbrook Park Golf Club for a number of reasons, including her roles as Welfare Officer and Social Chairman and inaugurating and running the Club’s Seniors Mixed Open for 7 years.
The key reason for Jane’s nomination was her absolute commitment and dedication to running Ladbrook Park Golf Club’s Charity Am-Am, which was first introduced by our founder, Eric Barnard, 35 years ago.
As Eric’s daughter, Jane has been assisting with the Charity Am-Am since its formation and when Eric passed away in 2002, Jane took on the responsibility for this much-loved community event.
For over 3 decades, the Am-Am has been making a hugely positive difference to the lives of many young people living with disabilities through the donation of state-of-the-art mobility devices.
Since its inception, this annual event has enabled the donation of 73 electric chairs, 4 helium sports manual wheelchairs, 2 motorised tricycles, a push tricycle, 2 standing frames, 2 hand cycles, bumpers for Aston Villa’s children’s disability football teams, a walker and a guide dog for the blind. Totalling over £300,000, the value of these devices and the freedom they allow is immeasurable for the youngsters and their families.
As proud supporters of the Charity Am-Am, we are very pleased that Jane’s tremendous achievements have been recognised in this way. Jane has touched many lives in so many ways and her impact has directly helped many young people to enjoy increased mobility and independence.
On behalf of everyone at Redhill, we would like to once again congratulate Jane on her Unsung Hero award and to thank her for consistently going above and beyond to ensure the seamless running of the hugely popular Charity Am-Am – thank you, Jane!
