Redhill re-opens for business with 50% workforce

As from Monday 27th April, Redhill Manufacturing is open for business with a 50% workforce, enabling orders for essential NHS equipment to be fulfilled, while following strict safety guidelines in accordance with Government advice.

With NHS orders for essential cylinder handling equipment building up, Redhill has made the decision to re-open the factory utilising 50% of the workforce and enabling manufacture to step up and meet demand.

The factory is able to re-open thanks to the layout of its manufacturing facilities, which are both spacious and automated, enabling workers to maintain social distance and follow recommended safety procedures. In addition, the factory maintains the highest levels of hygiene, with regular and thorough cleaning, and all workers wearing appropriate PPE.

As well as producing oxygen cylinder trolleys and other sheet metal fabricated items to support the NHS in its battle against coronavirus, the factory will now be able to address some of the backlog of orders that has built up during the enforced period of closure.

Andy Colley, Managing Director comments: “Redhill is reopening the factory in accordance with the latest Government guidelines, ensuring workers operate to the highest safety standards. Our priority is to manufacture and deliver essential equipment, supporting NHS hospital staff who are working hard to save lives. With the extra capacity afforded by a 50% return of the workforce, we can also go some way towards handling the backlog of orders placed before the lockdown was announced.”

This move is further proof of the flexibility and ‘can do’ approach of British manufacturing, the adaptability of the workforce and their determination to carry on during a time of national crisis. We would like to issue a heartfelt thank you to all concerned for their commitment, dedication and exemplary work ethic during this challenging period.
